Infosys Opens Center in Calgary with Plans to Create 1,000 Jobs by 2024
Infosys has been stepping up local hiring in most of its major geographies, including the US and Canada, as part of a strategy to have more visa-independent employees and add greater value to the regions where it operates. The Bengaluru-based IT services company recently inaugurated a digital center in Calgary, Canada, and announced plans to create 1,000 jobs there over the next two years.
Infosys chose to open a digital center in Calgary because it is a strategic location and a center of tech excellence with rich IT talent that allows the company to scale its work with clients in sectors such as energy, natural resources, and agriculture. The center will provide training to employees of Infosys and clients to upgrade skills, and reskilling in the technologies needed to accelerate digital transformation for Canadian businesses.
This is expected to aid the company's growth in Canada, where it also expects to double its workforce to 8,000 employees by 2024. Infosys reported annual revenue of $16,311 million for 2022, which increased 20.28% over that in 2021. The annual revenue for 2021 was $13,561 million, which showed a 6.11% increase over revenue for 2020. Infosys has already added 500 skilled positions to Calgary, fulfilling a promise it made a year ago, to promote its growth in the area.
