Europe recorded the highest mobile average revenue per user (ARPU) of $374 per month in 2021, among all regions globally. Switzerland had the highest mobile ARPU of $38 per month in 2021, which increased from $33 per month in the previous year. The increase in mobile ARPU was the result of an increase in the number of mobile subscribers and an increase in the consumption of data and voice services by users, which increased the ARPU of telecom companies in the region.
Rapid growth in digitization and the demand for digital entertainment increased the demand for mobile data services, which enhanced the revenue of telecom companies. The mobile revenue of telecom companies in Switzerland increased 12% to reach $5,638 million owing to an increase in consumption amid the work-from-home measures, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The mobile subscriber base also grew at a CAGR of 1.5% during 2018–21. This aided the growth of mobile ARPU of telecom companies. The mobile ARPU in the region grew at a CAGR of 2.7% during 2017–21.
The major telecom companies in Switzerland include Swisscom, Sunrise, VTX, and Salt. Sunrise continues to record an increase in its mobile subscriber base. Recently, Swisscom announced the rollout of a 5G booster in Switzerland.

Salt, in its recent earnings, reported an increase in its revenue due to growth in its subscriber base. Moreover, Salt has been among the leading players in providing 5G services in the region.
