Hotels and motels in India

The hotels & motels industry consists of establishments that provide paid lodging and full guest services, typically with a continuous staff presence. In the case of motels, this includes off-street parking facilities, but not necessarily meal services. The industry is detailed in both value and volume terms. Industry value consists of the total revenue generated by (a) rent that a guest pays for an occupied room and (b) other revenues, including revenue from food and beverages, telecommunications, health and leisure operations, and car rentals. Industry volume consists of the number of establishments in a given country that provides paid lodging and full guest services.

Market analysis of hotels and motels in India

The population’s rising income has spurred domestic leisure and business travel expenditure, while international tourist arrivals were also increased by the relaxing of visa requirements. The government has completely allowed FDI under the automatic route to upgrade the travel and tourism industry and, as a result, international hotel brands have started taking a keen interest in India. India is well known for its natural beauty and offers tourist destinations that de-stress and rejuvenate travelers, along with some other World Heritage sites and some bio-geographic zones. This has been a key driver of growth within the leisure segment. The growth of the business segment will be spurred over the next few years by the ongoing expansion of convention centers, which will upgrade India's status as a MICE industry destination. Some of the increasingly popular MICE destinations in India include New Delhi, Hyderabad, Goa, Cochin and Agra, which will continue to contribute to growth in this segment.
