IB 23-14: NMFS Prohibits Directed Fishing for Pacific Cod by Catcher Vessels Using Trawl Gear in the Gulf of Alaska's Western Regulatory Area

According to Jonathan M. Kurland, Regional Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS, directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher vessels using trawl gear in the Western Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) will be prohibited beginning at 12 noon, Alaska local time, March 4, 2023.
This action is required to avoid exceeding the A season allowance of the total allowable catch allocated to catcher vessels using trawl gear in the GOA's Western Regulatory Area in 2023. This action is being taken in accordance with 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1) (iii).
