Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and Kirkland & Ellis were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the construction sector during the first half (H1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks legal advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $9.8 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Kirkland & Ellis led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 16 deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Kirkland & Ellis was the top adviser by volume in H1 2023 and managed to retain its leadership position by this metric in H1 2024 as well. It was among the only two advisers to hit double-digit deal volume during H1 2024.
“Meanwhile, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison was just shy of touching the $10 billion total deal value mark during the review period. It witnessed improvement in its ranking by value from fifth position in H1 2023 to the top spot in H1 2024.”

CMS occupied the second position in terms of volume with 14 deals, followed by White & Case with nine deals, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett with eight deals and Latham & Watkins with seven deals.
Meanwhile, Allen & Overy occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $8.3 billion worth of deals, followed by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett with $7.5 billion, Davis Polk & Wardwell with $7.4 billion and White & Case with $6.7 billion.
