Slaughter and May and Kirkland & Ellis were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the automotive sector during 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database has revealed that Slaughter and May achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $2.3 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Kirkland & Ellis led in terms of volume by advising on a total of eight deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Kirkland & Ellis registered improvement in the number of deals advised by it during 2024 compared to the previous year. Resultantly, its ranking by volume improved from the third position in 2023 to the top position in 2024. Meanwhile, Slaughter and May, which led by value in 2024, was not even among the top 10 during the previous year.”

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $2.3 billion worth of deals, followed by Kirkland & Ellis with $2.2 billion, Latham & Watkins with $1.3 billion and NautaDutilh with $1.3 billion.
Meanwhile, CMS occupied the second position in terms of volume with six deals, followed by AZB & Partners with five deals, Baker McKenzie with five deals and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison with four deals.
