White & Case and CMS were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in Europe during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that White & Case achieved the top position in terms of value by advising on $40.3 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, CMS led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 164 deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “CMS outpaced its peers by a big margin in terms of deal volume. Although there was a decline in the number of deals advised by CMS, it was the only adviser to hit the triple-digit deal volume during Q1-Q3 2024.
“Meanwhile, White & Case registered a significant growth in the total value of deals advised by it during Q1-Q3 2024 compared to Q1-Q3 2023. White & Case advised on 11 billion-dollar deals*. The involvement in these big-ticket deals helped White & Case register a massive jump in terms of value. Apart from leading by value, White & Case also held the second position by volume during Q1-Q3 2024.”

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer occupied the second position in terms of value by advising on $38 billion worth of deals, followed by Latham & Watkins with $36.4 billion, Kirkland & Ellis with $32.4 billion and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom with $31.5 billion.
Meanwhile, White & Case occupied the second position in terms of volume with 95 deals, followed by Allen & Overy with 91 deals, Addleshaw Goddard with 73 deals and Baker McKenzie with 69 deals.
