Sponsored by the Safety Net Hospital Alliance of Florida and the Florida Hospital Association, this is a GlobalData physician workforce analysis that explores the shortfall of physicians in Florida and projects future supply and demand, analyzed by specialty, population, demographic trends, etc.
Using 2019 as a base year for modeling, the report discusses the short-term impact of the pandemic on the population, demand for physician services, and the physician workforce. A Reduced Barriers demand scenario is included to provide an understanding of potential implications for the provider workforce demand assuming certain barriers to accessing healthcare services are removed for members of historically underserved populations. The study authors also included supply projections of advanced practice nurses.
This study is an update of a 2015 analysis of the physician workforce.
