Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) is undertaking the Erasmus University medical center project in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.The project involves the construction of a new 120m high, 31-story medical centre with a total floor area of 185,000m2. It includes the construction of a proton therapy treatment center, an emergency care unit, multi-specialty ambulatory care centers, a laboratory, a pharmacy, an intensive care unit, a physiotherapy unit and a parking facility and the installation of required medical equipment.The construction work on the project is being undertaken in three phases.EGM Architects has been appointed as architect; Wildeboer Bauteile GmbH as ventilation and air-conditioning supply contractor; Aronsohn Consulting Engineers as engineering consultant; and Juurlink + Geluk as landscape designer for the project.Royal Haskoning DHV has been appointed to provide design and engineering services, program management and technical supervision; and BAM Techniek and ULC Groep for mechanical and electrical installation work for the project.In 2009, BAM Utiliteitsbouw, in joint venture with Ballast Nedam, was appointed as construction contractor for the project.In the fourth quarter of 2009, construction works were commenced. Construction works are underway and scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2017.
