July 2016 saw a number of policy changes in the global renewable power market. In the Americas, in the US, the Mayor of the District of Columbia (DC) was involved in signing the Renewable Portfolio Standard Expansion Amendment Act of 2016 into law and US Senators Sherrod Brown and Pat Robert put forward new bipartisan legislation, named “Agriculture Environmental Stewardship Act(S 3248)”. Another announcement came from the US Senator for Mexico of the bipartisan bill to develop Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for energy storage. In Europe, Middle East, and Africa, the UK witnessed cuts to its Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). Spain is getting ready for its 3 Gigawatt (GW) renewable energy auction toward the end of 2016. Iran, in the Middle East, revealed its first tender for utility-scale renewable power projects. In Asia-Pacific, China attained 20 GW of solar Photovoltaic (PV) installations in H1 2016. The Queensland government came up with its new wind farm planning code and the New South Wales (NSW) government showcased its renewable energy commitments through the introduction of the state’s first renewable energy map at the 2016 Clean Energy Summit held in Sydney.
