Rory Green
Rory joined TS Lombard in 2018, returning to the UK after almost a decade in Asia. Prior to TS Lombard, Rory spent four years with PRC Macro Advisors, a Beijing based economic research firm specialising in China’s political economy. Before turning to economics, Rory worked at a number of Beijing based mediatech start-ups. Rory is a fluent Mandarin speaker and the winner of two Chinese government scholarships in Economics and Mandarin.
Rory has a BA (Joint Hons) in History & French from the University of Manchester. Rory was awarded two Chinese government scholarships in Economics and Mandarin, and obtained an MSc in Economics from Beijing Normal University in 2014. Rory speaks fluent Mandarin and French, and advanced Korean.
Shumita Deveshwar
Shumita Sharma Deveshwar joined TS Lombard in 2007. She heads the India team based in New Delhi and focuses on India’s macroeconomy. Major research themes include fiscal and monetary policy, and she has broad expertise in banking and consumer demand. She travels regularly to different regions of India to take the pulse on what’s happening the ground.
Before joining TS Lombard, Shumita was the India economist for DSP Merrill Lynch in Mumbai. Prior to that, she reported on emerging markets, focusing on debt and macroeconomic issues, for Dow Jones Newswires in New York and covered the Indian economy for the same company from New Delhi. She completed her Master’s degree in international relations at Yale University and has a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Delhi University.
Elizabeth Johnson
Elizabeth joined TS Lombard in 2006 as the head of the Brazil research team . With over 25 years covering the country, she concentrates on political and economic policy, together with broad expertise in such key sectors as electric energy, infrastructure, agriculture and consumer-related issues. Elizabeth spearheads TS Lombard coverage of key investment themes including credit deepening, for-profit education as well as the complex relationship between Brazilian state-owned oil company Petrobras and the government.
Before joining TS Lombard, Elizabeth worked for publications including the Financial Times, Foreign Policy and Dow Jones. She has more than a decade of experience covering the Latin American private equity and venture capital industries and is considered a leading expert in this field. She also has broad knowledge of biofuels, sanitation and alternative energy. She has a PhD degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Master’s degree from the University of Texas – Austin, and has worked as a field producer for CNBC and National Geographic.
