Maura Musciacco, MSc
Maura Musciacco is the Director of Neurology and Ophthalmology at GlobalData in London. Prior to this role, she was a Lead Analyst for Company Analysis at Datamonitor Healthcare, where she managed the portfolio and production of the team covering the top 40 pharmaceutical companies, in addition to being the in-house specialist for the orphan drug sector. Previously, she was an Analyst in the Strategy team at Datamonitor Healthcare, where she gained extensive experience writing in-depth reports covering various topics, including mergers and acquisitions, emerging markets, generics, and R&D trends. Maura started her career in market research, where she uncovered needs and trends in specific markets. She has an MSc in International Health Management from the Imperial College Business School, and a BSc in Molecular Biology from University College London (UCL).
Tom Parker
Thomas Parker is an Analyst within the Neurology and Ophthalmology Therapy Team at GlobalData in London. His core responsibilities involve providing in-depth analysis, market intelligence, and data interpretation within the neurology and ophthalmology pharmaceutical sectors. Previously, Tom was a Healthcare Analyst for Datamonitor Healthcare where he authored insight and analysis content focusing largely on cardiovascular, metabolic, and oncological disease areas. Tom received his Master of Pharmacology degree from the University of Bath during which he gained extensive experience in various biochemical, molecular, and analytical techniques including mammalian in vivo and in vitro models. He undertook a research project investigating an alternative, in vitro, model of metabolic syndrome using fructose-treated rat mesenteric arteries. Tom also completed a one-year industrial placement with AstraZeneca during which he developed a larval zebrafish model for functional cardiovascular safety assessment whilst gaining valuable insight into the pharmaceutical industry. The work was subsequently published in a peer-reviewed journal with Tom named as the first author.
