Surani Fernando
I am an investigative reporter and editor with more than 10 years of experience, primarily covering the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. My experience includes covering pharmaceutical drug development, clinical trials, M&A, Financing and IPOs, specifically for an investor and corporate audience.
Starting out in 2010 as a reporter for BioPharm Insight (a newswire launched under MergerMarket & Financial Times Group, now owned by GlobalData), I became the managing editor of the London news desk in late 2014. I moved to New York in 2016 to lead the North America team. In 2019, I joined Reorg as a lead reporter and editor to help start a new investigative M&A news desk in New York. I covered regulatory industries, primarily deals in the healthcare space.
In October 2020, I started my adventure as a freelance journalist and writer covering the healthcare sector, based in Madrid, Spain. In January 2021, with backing from Reorg's CEO Kent Collier, we launched "The Vax Files" podcast, an unbiased and deep dive look into the Covid-19 vaccines, exploring all facets of the vaccine -- from bench to bedside -- with top experts from around the world. The podcast ranked in the Apple podcasts life sciences charts in 30+ countries and ranks in the top 2.5% of podcasts globally. I'm also working with various clients based in the UK and US as a freelance journalist and content/ghostwriter.
