In the LTM period, August 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $615.9 million, resulting in an average deal value of $123.2 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 8 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $38.8 million during that month.
Of the 55 deals, the deal secured between JBS SA and Huon Aquaculture Group, Ltd., was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Agriculture & Forestry sector, which was valued at $402.0 million and was completed on August 6, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd and IJM Plantations Bhd, while the third-largest deal was between Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd and IJM Plantations Bhd. The Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd-IJM Plantations Bhd deal and the Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd-IJM Plantations Bhd deal were valued at $372.0 million and $367.6 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Guangming Ecological Island Investment and Development Co., Ltd.-Bright Food Group Shanghai Dongping Small Town Farm Co., Ltd. valued at $229.6 million, whereas the deal between Sojitz Co., Ltd-Marine Foods Co., Ltd. valued at $229.5 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $1,600.7 million and accounted for nearly 53.74% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 17.77% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 10.30% of the total deal size on a global scale.
