Unilever Plc (Unilever) is a manufacturer and supplier of fast-moving consumer goods. The company's product portfolio comprises food, beauty, and personal care products. It markets products under brands of Bango, Ben & Jerry’s, Knorr, Magnum, Axe, Dove, Lux, Rexona, Sunsilk, and Vaseline.

Total GHG emissions of Unilever in 2021 were 61.72 million tonnes CO2 equivalents (MtCO2eq), an increase of 1% from 2020. GHG emissions of the company have declined continuously in recent years. The FMCG company aims to halve the GHG impact of its products by 2030.

GHG emissions are generally classified into Scope 1,2 & 3 emissions. Scope 1 includes direct GHG emissions from energy generated from fossil fuels and refrigerants. Scope 2 encompasses indirect GHG emissions from the on-site generation and purchase of electricity. Scope 3 involves indirect GHG emissions in Unilever’s value chain (upstream and downstream).

Scope 3 emissions form the major portion of Unilever’s total GHG emissions, accounting for around 61.01 MtCO2eq (98.2%) of total GHG emissions in 2021. Unilever’s Scope 1 emissions have decreased by about 7% to 0.57 MtCO2eq, and Scope 2 emissions decreased by around 33% to 0.14 MtCO2eq in 2021.
