On the other hand, the month of June 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 43 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $526.7 million during that month.
Of the 335 deals, the deal secured between Microsoft Corp and Activision Blizzard Inc, was the world's largest M&A deal driven by Digital Media, which was valued at $68,700.0 million and was completed on January 18, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Take-Two Interactive Software Inc and Zynga Inc, while the third-largest deal was between Entegris Inc and CMC Materials Inc. The Take-Two Interactive Software Inc-Zynga Inc deal and the Entegris Inc-CMC Materials Inc deal were valued at $12,700.0 million and $5,700.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between PayU-BillDesk valued at $4,700.0 million, whereas the deal between Pershing Square Tontine Holdings Ltd-Universal Music Group Inc valued at $4,000.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $95,800.0 million and accounted for nearly 50.08% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, North America accounted for 76.32% of the total M&A deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $146,930.7 million, which accounted for 39.04% of the total deal size on a global scale.
