In the LTM period, May 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $60,484.9 million, resulting in an average deal value of $4,320.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of August 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 26 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $1,242.3 million during that month.
Of the 204 deals, the deal secured between Block Inc and Afterpay Ltd, was the world's largest M&A deal driven by Digitalization, which was valued at $29,000.0 million and was completed on August 1, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Take-Two Interactive Software Inc and Zynga Inc, while the third-largest deal was between Entegris Inc and CMC Materials Inc. The Take-Two Interactive Software Inc-Zynga Inc deal and the Entegris Inc-CMC Materials Inc deal were valued at $12,700.0 million and $5,700.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Emirates Telecommunications Group Co PJSC-Vodafone Group Plc valued at $4,400.0 million, whereas the deal between Vodacom Group Ltd-Vodafone Egypt Telecommunications SAE valued at $3,154.6 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $54,954.6 million and accounted for nearly 33.48% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, Asia-Pacific accounted for 55.87% of the total M&A deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $91,727.6 million, which accounted for 30.05% of the total deal size on a global scale.
