India: Five largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deals by value driven by ECommerce (LTM June 2022)

  • A total of 285 Private Equity/Venture Financing deals (pending and completed) were announced in India, driven by ECommerce, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $11,561.5 million. In the LTM period, July 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $1,625.5 million, resulting in an average deal value of $62.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of September 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 29 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $29.7 million during that month.

  • Of the 285 deals, the deal secured between ARK Impact Asset Management Inc.; Axis Growth Avenues AIF- I; Baron Capital Group, Inc.; Falcon Edge Capital, LP; Ghisallo Partners LP; IIFL AMC Late Stage Tech Fund; Invesco Ltd; Kotak; Prosus Ventures; Qatar Investment Authority; Segantii Capital Management Limited; Sixteenth Street Capital Pte. Ltd.; Smile Group; Sumeru Venture Partners and Bundl Technologies Private Ltd, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the India, which was valued at $700.0 million and was completed on January 24, 2022. The second-largest deal was between B Capital Group Management, L.P.; Fidelity Management & Research Company; Footpath Ventures; Meta Platforms Inc; Prosus Ventures; SoftBank Vision Fund 2; Trifecta Capital and Fashnear Technologies Pvt Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between Plum Wood Investment Ltd; Temasek Holdings (Private) Ltd and ANI Technologies Pvt Ltd. The B Capital Group Management, L.P.; Fidelity Management & Research Company; Footpath Ventures; Meta Platforms Inc; Prosus Ventures; SoftBank Vision Fund 2; Trifecta Capital-Fashnear Technologies Pvt Ltd deal and the Plum Wood Investment Ltd; Temasek Holdings (Private) Ltd-ANI Technologies Pvt Ltd deal were valued at $570.0 million and $500.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between ADQ; Amansa Capital Pte. Ltd.; ApaH Capital; Falcon Edge Capital, LP; IIFL Late Stage Tech Fund; Janus Henderson Global Investors plc; Neuberger Berman Wealth Management; Orbimed Advisors LLC; Sanne Group plc; SoftBank Capital; Steadview Capital; Trifecta Capital-91streets Media Technologies Pvt Ltd; CARS24 Services Pvt Ltd valued at $350.0 million, whereas the deal between DST Global; Falcon Edge Capital, LP; SoftBank Vision Fund LP; The Carlyle Group Inc.-CARS24 Services Pvt Ltd valued at $340.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.

  • Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $2,470.0 million and accounted for nearly 21.36% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
