Population growth analysis in Egypt
Egypt’s population has increased significantly between 2000 and 2019. The rate of growth has increased during 1990–1999. The country’s fertility rate has decreased from its pre-1990 level, resulting in a slowdown in the population’s growth rate. Egypt is one of the most populous countries in the Middle East and North African region. However, the rising population is expected to create a strain on the already scarce natural resources of the country.

The 2020 age structure indicates that maximum percentage of the population belongs to the 15-64 years age group, a significant percentage to the 0-15 years age group, and the rest belong to the over 65 years age group. The population of Egypt is mostly young and of working age. Even though the old-age population is expected to rise by 2025, its share will be low compared to peer nations.
