Population growth analysis in Egypt

Egypt’s population has increased significantly between 2000 and 2019. The rate of growth has increased during 1990–1999. The country’s fertility rate has decreased from its pre-1990 level, resulting in a slowdown in the population’s growth rate. Egypt is one of the most populous countries in the Middle East and North African region. However, the rising population is expected to create a strain on the already scarce natural resources of the country.

The population of Egypt is mostly young and of working age. Even though the old-age population is expected to rise by 2025, its share will be low compared to peer nations. The working-age population is forecast to occupy lesser percentage of the total population in 2025 compared to the percentage in 2015. In the Sustainable Development Strategy: Vision 2030, the government has placed a high priority on achieving food, water, and energy security for the population.
