Erzberg Mine in Styria, was the largest mine in Austria, producing approximately 2.07 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Erzberg Mine is owned by Erzberg Privatstiftung. The second largest mine with approximately 1.22 mmtpa of ROM, was the Kremsmauer Mountain Quarry located in Upper Austria. The Kremsmauer Mountain Quarry is owned by Voestalpine AG.
Bad Ischl Mine located in Upper Austria was the third-largest mine, the Altaussee Mine located in Styria was the fourth-largest mine, and the Mittersill Mine located in Salzburg was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 1.03 mmtpa, 0.58 mmtpa and 0.48 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Bad Ischl Mine is owned by Salinen Austria Ag, the Altaussee Mine is owned by Salinen Austria Ag and the Mittersill Mine is owned by Sandvik AB.
