Eshidiya Mine in Ma'an, was the largest surface mine in Jordan, producing approximately 13.01 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Eshidiya Mine is owned by Jordan Phosphate Mines Co Plc. The second largest surface mine with an estimated 9.87 mmtpa of ROM, was the Arab Potash Project located in Madaba. The Arab Potash Project is owned by Arab Potash Company Plc.
Al Abiad Mine located in Ma'an was the third-largest mine, the Al Hassa Mine located in Ma'an was the fourth-largest mine, and the Al-Hallabat Quarry located in Balqa was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 7.76 mmtpa, 1.43 mmtpa and 0.11 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Al Abiad Mine is owned by Jordan Phosphate Mines Co Plc, the Al Hassa Mine is owned by Jordan Phosphate Mines Co Plc and the Al-Hallabat Quarry is owned by Manaseer Group.
The five largest surface mines, i.e., Eshidiya Mine, Arab Potash Project, Al Abiad Mine, Al Hassa Mine, and Al-Hallabat Quarry, cumulatively produced approximately 32.18 mmtpa of ROM in 2021.
