Fekola Mine in Kayes, was the largest mine in Mali, producing approximately 6.57 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) and primarily produced gold (567.8 thousand ounces) in 2021. The Fekola Mine is owned by B2Gold Corp;Government Of Mali, and is due to operate until 2034. The second largest mine with approximately 4.75 mmtpa of ROM and primarily producing gold (721.5 thousand ounces), was the Loulo-Gounkoto Mine located in Kayes. The Loulo-Gounkoto Mine is owned by Barrick Gold Corp;Government Of Mali, and is due to operate until 2028.
Kodieran Mine located in Bamako Capital District was the third-largest mine, the Syama Underground Mine located in Sikasso was the fourth-largest mine, and the Nampala Project located in Bamako Capital District was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 2.7 mmtpa, 2.24 mmtpa and 1.44 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. Primarily, the Kodieran Mine produced approximately 201 thousand ounces of gold, the Syama Underground Mine produced approximately 136 thousand ounces of gold and the Nampala Project produced approximately 37 thousand ounces of gold in the year 2021. The Kodieran Mine is owned by Government Of Mali;Wassoul’Or SA, the Syama Underground Mine is owned by Resolute Mining Ltd;Government Of Mali which is due to operate until 2032 and the Nampala Project is owned by Robex Resources Inc which is due to operate until 2031.
