Letpadaung Copper Mine in Sagaing, was the largest mine in Myanmar, producing approximately 36.92 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) and primarily produced copper (122.95 thousand tonnes) in 2021. The Letpadaung Copper Mine is owned by Wanbao Mining Co Ltd, and is due to operate until 2051. The second largest mine with approximately 21.56 mmtpa of ROM and primarily producing copper (75.69 thousand tonnes), was the Kyisintaung Copper Mine located in Sagaing. The Kyisintaung Copper Mine is owned by Wanbao Mining Co Ltd, and is due to operate until 2028.
Monywa Mine located in Sagaing was the third-largest mine, the Tagaung Taung Mine located in Mandalay was the fourth-largest mine, and the Namtu Bawdwin Mine located in Sagaing was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 13.57 mmtpa, 2.04 mmtpa and 0.86 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Monywa Mine is owned by Mining Enterprise No. 1;The Monywa Trust which is due to operate until 2042, the Tagaung Taung Mine is owned by China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co Ltd;Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co Ltd which is due to operate until 2032 and the Namtu Bawdwin Mine is owned by Mallee Resources Ltd;Win Myint Mo Industries Co., Ltd..
