Rosia Poieni Mine in Alba, was the largest mine in Romania, producing approximately 8.51 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) and primarily produced copper (27.58 thousand tonnes) in 2021. The Rosia Poieni Mine is owned by Government of Romania. The second largest mine with approximately 5.18 mmtpa of ROM, was the Jilt Mine located in Gorj. The Jilt Mine is owned by Complexul Energetic Oltenia SA.
Rosia Mine located in Gorj was the third-largest mine, the Tismana Coal Mine located in Gorj was the fourth-largest mine, and the Rosiuta Mine located in Gorj was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 3.63 mmtpa, 3.56 mmtpa and 3.43 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Rosia Mine is owned by Complexul Energetic Oltenia SA, the Tismana Coal Mine is owned by Complexul Energetic Oltenia SA and the Rosiuta Mine is owned by Complexul Energetic Oltenia SA.
