Canadian Tire Corp (CTC) is a Canadian retailer specializing in automotive, hardware, sports, leisure, and housewares. It operates through three reportable segments: the Retail segment, the Financial Services segment, and the CT REIT segment. In the Retail segment, CTC operates businesses under its retail banners, including Canadian Tire, SportChek, Mark's, PartSource, Helly Hansen, and Party City, as well as Petroleum, in the Financial Services segment, it operates through CTFS Holdings and through the CT REIT segment, it operates through CT REIT. In FY2021, the company had a total of 1,712 stores closing down 29 stores compared to FY2020 YoY.

CTC operated with an aggregate of 1,712 stores by the end of FY2021 across all segments. In FY2019, the company acquired Party City a leading, one-stop shopping destination for party supplies with 65  Canadian retail stores in seven provinces.

Canadian Tire includes national and owned brand products in 197 product categories across its Automotive, Fixing, Living, Playing, Seasonal & Gardening divisions. The well-known owned brands carried at Canadian Tire are Motomaster, Mastercraft, Noma, Canvas, For Living, and Paderno. Canadian Tire stores range in size from approximately 3,200 to 134,000 retail square feet and, as of the end of FY2021, totaled approximately 22.3 million retail square feet across 504 stores.

The Automotive division which is responsible for the automotive products and services offered at Canadian Tire stores includes PartSource a specialty automotive parts chain across 80 stores. The Fixing division comprises products in the tools, hardware, paint, electrical, plumbing, home environment, and smart home categories. The Living division comprises products in the kitchen, home organization, decor, home electronics, pet, cleaning, and consumable categories. The Playing division comprises products in the outdoor recreation, exercise, footwear and apparel, hunting, fishing, camping, and sporting goods categories. Under the Playing division is Pro Hockey Life, a specialty retailer that sells high-end hockey assortments had 16 stores. Under the Seasonal & Gardening division is Party City which had 65 Canadian retail stores operated by dealers.

Canadian Tire also offers online shopping through its website and mobile application with click-and-collect for in-store pickup and curbside pickup as well as deliver-to-home order fulfillment.

SportChek, a retailer of sporting goods and activewear operates through its corporate-owned and franchised stores. The corporate-owned retail stores operate under the SportChek and Atmosphere banners. In FY2021, SportChek had 192 stores and Atmosphere had 19 stores.

SportChek also operates a franchise division for its retail banners, Sports Experts, Atmosphere, Hockey Experts, and Sports Rousseau/L’Entrepôt du Hockey with a total of 164 stores. The Sports Experts banner had 97 stores, Atmosphere had 44 stores, Hockey Experts had 10 and Sports Rousseau/L’Entrepôt du Hockey had 13 stores by the end of the year.

Mark’s is one of Canada’s largest casual and industrial apparel and footwear retailers. Owned brands carried at Mark’s include Denver Hayes, Dakota, WindRiver, and Helly Hansen. Mark’s operates through both corporate and franchise-owned stores. It had 348 corporate and 32 franchise stores as of FY2021.

Helly Hansen is a leading global brand with an international wholesale and retail business in outerwear, base-layer, and workwear, based in Norway has products that are sold in more than 40 countries.

Petroleum which is one of Canada’s largest independent retailers of gasoline with 292 retail gas bars and associated convenience stores, of which 152 are located adjacent to Canadian Tire stores.

In the financial services segment, CTC holds an 80% interest in CTFS Holdings (Canadian Tire Bank and CTFS Bermuda); the remaining 20% interest is owned by The Bank of Nova Scotia.

As of FY2021, CT REIT’s portfolio comprised 368 properties. The portfolio consists of net leased assets and is made up of 362 retail properties, four industrial properties, one mixed-use commercial property (which includes CTC’s head office), and one development property.
