The furniture and interior decorative product retailer, Nitori Holdings (Nitori) is headquartered in Tokyo. The Nitori Group comprises several companies, including Nitori Co., which deals in the planning and sale of home furnishings and home décor; Nitori Furniture Co., which manufactures furniture in Vietnam; its logistics arm Home Logistics Co.; Nitori Public Co., for advertising and publicity; insurance provider Nitori Facility Co.; and Home Deco Co., which oversees the development, procurement, and manufacturing of curtains. Nitori Group has its stores in Eastern Asia, the U.S., Malaysia, and Singapore, and is promoting e-commerce in each of these regions, as well as cross-border e-commerce and wholesale business in regions where the Group has no stores. In FY2021, the company opened a net of 79 stores, bringing the total store count to 801. It established a Global Business Development Office in January 2020 to enable the headquarters to take the lead in providing support to build foundations for overseas business, and further accelerating the speed of new store openings overseas.

In FY2021, Nitori added 79 stores to its portfolio bringing the total store count to 801 stores. It had 708 stores in Japan, 90 stores in Eastern Asia, 2 in the US, and 1 in Malaysia. The group plans to have a net increase of 143 stores, 100 in Japan and 43 overseas by FY2022.

On January 20, 2022, it opened its first store in Malaysia, also its first store in Southeast Asia. And on March 31, 2022, Nitori opened its first Singapore. On January 12, 2022, Nitori began selling its products on Coupang’s e-commerce site, entering the Korean market.

In FY2020, Nitori integrated with Shimachu through a tender offer and made it a wholly-owned subsidiary. Nitori expects the business of Shimachu, which runs a home improvement enterprise including exterior goods, as an extension of the Nitori Group’s furniture and interior home furnishing business will maximize its corporate value.

Nitori also operated through its app, strengthening customer contact points through seamless connect stores and e-commerce to offer a new shopping experience.
