Apple segments its net sales into the Americas, Europe, Greater China, Japan, and the Rest of Asia Pacific. In the year 2021, iPhone sales increased by nearly 39% year-over-year. Historically the Americas region (North and South America) has been the major segment for Apple in terms of net sales generated.
The Americas region’s net sales amounted to $153 billion in 2021, primarily driven by higher net sales of iPhone, Services, and Mac.
Europe’s net sales in 2021 were $89 billion, the higher sales in Europe were driven by higher net sales of iPhones, Services, & iPad, and the movement of foreign currencies in Europe relative to the U.S. dollar.
Greater China’s net sales were driven by higher net sales of iPhones, iPad & Services, and the strength of the Chinese renminbi relative to the U.S. dollar resulting in net sales of $68 billion in 2021.
Japan’s net sales in 2021 amounted to $28 billion in 2021, driven primarily by the higher net sales of iPhone and Services.
The Rest of Asia Pacific generated net sales of nearly $26 billion in 2021, driven primarily by higher net sales of iPhones, iPad, and Services.
Americas includes both North and South America.
Europe includes European countries, as well as India, the Middle East, and Africa.
Greater China includes mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
The Rest of Asia Pacific includes Australia and those Asian countries not included in the Company’s other reportable segments.
