On the other hand, the month of August 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 24 deals being made, with average deal value of $1,345.2 million during that month.
Of the 180 deals, the deal secured between Block Inc and Afterpay Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Global Technology, Media and Telecom sector driven by Digitalization, which was valued at $29,000.0 million and was completed on August 1, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Take-Two Interactive Software Inc and Zynga Inc, while the third-largest deal was between Entegris Inc and CMC Materials Inc. The Take-Two Interactive Software Inc-Zynga Inc deal and the Entegris Inc-CMC Materials Inc deal were valued at $12,700.0 million and $5,700.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Emirates Telecommunications Group Co PJSC-Vodafone Group Plc valued at $4,400.0 million, whereas the deal between Vodacom Group Ltd-Vodafone Egypt Telecommunications SAE valued at $3,154.6 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $54,954.55 million and accounted for nearly 34.62% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, Asia-Pacific accounted for 55.77% of the total M&A deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $88,563.1 million, which accounted for 30.00% of the total deal size on a global scale.
