A total of 231 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in South Korea, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $29,867.9 million. In the LTM period, June 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $7,807.9 million, resulting in an average deal value of $650.7 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of July 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 27 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $69.9 million during that month.
Of the 231 deals, the deal secured between EMART Inc and eBay Korea Co., Ltd., was the largest M&A deal in the South Korea, which was valued at $3,061.6 million and was completed on June 24, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Samsung Biologics Co Ltd and Samsung Bioepis Co Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between DN Automotive Corp and Doosan Machine Tools Co Ltd. The Samsung Biologics Co Ltd-Samsung Bioepis Co Ltd deal and the DN Automotive Corp-Doosan Machine Tools Co Ltd deal were valued at $2,300.0 million and $2,100.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Jungheung Construction Co Ltd-Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co Ltd valued at $1,743.0 million, whereas the deal between Cornucopia Investment Partners; Lombarda China Fund Management Co.,Ltd.; Sino-Rock Investment Management Company Limited; Tim Crown; Yango Financial Holding Investment Group Co., Ltd.-Magnachip Semiconductor Corp valued at $1,619.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $10,823.6 million and accounted for nearly 36.24% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
