A total of 161 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in Sweden, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $43,749.8 million. In the LTM period, May 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $21,427.2 million, resulting in an average deal value of $1,428.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 21 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $33.1 million during that month.
Of the 161 deals, the deal secured between Philip Morris International Inc and Swedish Match AB, was the largest M&A deal in the Sweden, which was valued at $17,326.9 million and was completed on May 11, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Qualcomm Inc; SSW Partners LP and Veoneer Inc, while the third-largest deal was between Castellum AB and Kungsleden AB. The Qualcomm Inc; SSW Partners LP-Veoneer Inc deal and the Castellum AB-Kungsleden AB deal were valued at $4,600.0 million and $4,098.7 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Coloplast A/S-Atos Medical AB valued at $2,492.6 million, whereas the deal between Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd-Perstorp Holding AB valued at $2,390.6 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $30,908.8 million and accounted for nearly 70.65% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
