The largest oil and gas fields starting in 2022

  • Despite the ongoing Covid-19 spread several large fields are planned to come on stream this year, with five of the top ten operated by supermajors. Seven out of ten projects are situated offshore, with BP’s Mad Dog Phase, ExxonMobil’s Liza and Eni’s Coral South developments located in ultra-deepwater

  • Some will peak next year, bringing about 173 mboed of gas and 145 mboed of oil. These include Mad Dog Phase 2, Coral South FLNG and Mubadala’s Pegaga gas fields

  • These 10 projects are expected to recover 3.1 billion barrels of oil throughout their lifetime, which is 27% of their total reserves. Gas reserves from these projects amount to 37 Tcf
