Population growth analysis in Brazil 

Brazil’s population grew during the period 1999–2009. The growth rate slowed during 2010–2021. During 2022–2025, the population of Brazil is forecasted to grow. According to the CIA - The World Factbook, maximum percentage of the total population are Roman Catholics, few are other Catholics, and the rest are Protestants. The country has experienced a heavy influx of migrants from neighboring Venezuela in recent years, due to its (Venezuela) economic woes. 

Population age – Split 

Most of Brazil’s population is between the age group of 15 and 64. In 2021, a fair percentage of the population was below 15 years of age, maximum percentage was in the working-age bracket (15–64), and the rest was aged above 65 years. The share of working–age bracket population is expected to slightly increase in 2025, and the share of 65 and above population is expected to increase from in 2025. The higher working-age population could be an asset to the Brazilian economy if necessary skills and education are provided, alongside government employment generation schemes. Brazil's population was was dominated by a majority female population and a minority of men in 2021. 

Strengths - High percentage of working-age population 

The working population in Brazil is exhibiting a positive trend as compared to previous years. Brazil’s total working-age population was a majority in 2000, which was a significant percentage of the total population. In 2021, the working-age population increased. 

Future risks - Increasing aging population 

The old-age dependency ratio indicates the proportion of the population above 64 versus the economically active working population aged between 15 and 64 involved in the production of goods and services. Aging population of the country increased in 2021, from 2020 and forecast to increase further in coming years. 

Brazil’s old-age population share to rise 

Brazil’s old-age (65+) population is increasing; it is expected to account for a significant percentage of the whole population by 2025. The country’s female population is expected to witness a slight rise in 2025. The urban population’s share of the total population has been rising in Brazil.
