Muruntau Mine in Navoiy Viloyati, Uzbekistan, was the largest gold-producing mine in the world, producing approximately 1,929 thousand ounces of gold and an estimated 14.72 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Muruntau Mine is owned by Navoi Mining & Metallurgy Combinat, and is due to operate until 2032. The second largest gold-producing mine with an estimated gold production of 1,333 thousand ounces and an estimated 16.24 mmtpa of ROM, was the Carlin Mine located in Nevada, Uzbekistan. The Carlin Mine is owned by Barrick Gold Corp, and is due to operate until 2032.
