Jelsa Quarry in Rogaland, was the largest mine in Norway, producing approximately 11 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Jelsa Quarry is owned by Mibau Holding GmbH. The second largest mine with approximately 6.72 mmtpa of ROM, was the Kvannevann Iron Ore Mine located in Nordland. The Kvannevann Iron Ore Mine is owned by Leonhard Nilsen & Sonner AS, and is due to operate until 2025.
Akselberg Mine located in Nordland was the third-largest mine, the Kirkenes Mine located in Finnmark was the fourth-largest mine, and the Tellnes Mine located in Hordaland was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 2.64 mmtpa, 2 mmtpa and 1.86 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Akselberg Mine is owned by Norsk Mineral AS, the Kirkenes Mine is owned by Arctic Bulk Minerals A/S and the Tellnes Mine is owned by Kronos Norge A/S.
