Northern GOK Mine in Dnipropetrovsk, was the largest mine in Ukraine, producing approximately 48.03 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Northern GOK Mine is owned by Metinvest BV. The second largest mine with approximately 46.24 mmtpa of ROM, was the Ingulets GOK Mine located in Dnipropetrovsk. The Ingulets GOK Mine is owned by Metinvest BV, and is due to operate until 2081.
Kryviy Rih Open Pit Mine located in Dnipropetrovsk was the third-largest mine, the DTEK Pavlogradugol Mining Complex located in Dnipropetrovsk was the fourth-largest mine, and the Poltava Mine located in Poltava was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 25.7 mmtpa, 20.19 mmtpa and 18.45 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Kryviy Rih Open Pit Mine is owned by ArcelorMittal SA which is due to operate until 2046, the DTEK Pavlogradugol Mining Complex is owned by DTEK Energy BV which is due to operate until 2061 and the Poltava Mine is owned by Ferrexpo Plc which is due to operate until 2071.
The five largest mines, i.e., Northern GOK Mine, Ingulets GOK Mine, Kryviy Rih Open Pit Mine, DTEK Pavlogradugol Mining Complex, and Poltava Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 158.61 mmtpa of ROM in 2021
