In FY2022, the company added 6,035 stores to its portfolio bringing the total store count to 78,541 globally. These stores offer food, processed food, frozen food, gasoline, non-food items, apparel, and household goods. Seven & i Holdings also provides Internet-related services, meal delivery services, and various banking and financial services such as ATMs, electronic money, credit cards, insurance, and leasing. The company also involves in publishing, property management, and community school businesses. It has a business presence in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America. Seven & i Holdings is headquartered in Chiyoda-Ku, Tokyo, Japan.
By the end of FY2022, Seven & i Holdings Group operated with 78,541 stores across all markets compared to 72,506 operational stores in FY2021 YoY. In FY2022, the company added 6,035 stores as a result of domestic and overseas store openings and acquisition of Speedway in May 2021.
Seven & i Group consists of 198 diversified retail companies, mainly engaged in domestic convenience store operations, overseas convenience store operations, superstore operations, department and specialty store operations, and financial services.
Segment-wise, the company carried out its Domestic Convenience Store operations with Seven-Eleven Japan and Seven-Eleven Okinawa which have 21,205 and 122 stores respectively in FY2022.It added 160 stores in this segment in FY2022 compared to FY2021 YoY. To address the growing demand for delivery services, Seven-Eleven Japan (SEJ) increased steadily the number of stores handling “7NOW,” a service that allows customers to order items via smartphone for delivery to a designated location in as little as 30 minutes.
In the Overseas Convenience Stores segment it had 7-Eleven, Inc with 13,213 stores, Seven-Eleven Hawaii with 65 stores, Seven-Eleven Beijing with 304 stores, Seven-Eleven Chengdu with 84 stores, and Seven-Eleven Tianjin with 200 stores in FY2022. It added 3,382 stores in this segment in FY2022 compared to FY2021 YoY.
In the Superstore Operations segment, it had Ito-Yokado with 128 stores, York-Benimaru with 237 stores, York with 101 stores, Shell garden with 21 stores , Hua Tang Yokado Commercial with 1 store. Life Foods ceased to exist as a result of its merger with York-Benimaru in FY2022.
In the Department and Specialty Store Operations, Sogo & Seibu had 10 stores, Akachan Honpo had 121 stores, Barneys Japan had 11 stores, Seven & i Food Systems had 545 stores, and The Loft had 138 stores in FY2022. The company shut down a net of 127 stores in this segment owing to a decline in its sales figures.
In the financial services segment, Seven Bank had a total of 26,194 domestic ATMs, 9,004 ATMs overseas market mainly in North America. In FY2022, the transaction volume of Seven Card Service was JPY366 million and that of Seven CS Card Service was JPY612.1 million.
