Global Population: Overview
The entire number of people living in a nation or area is referred to as its population. The economy, female fertility rates, birth rates, mortality rates, healthcare facilities, expanding urbanization, immigration and emigration rates, education, and other social and cultural elements are only a few of the many variables that affect a nation's population growth.
Currently, the global population is growing at a low single-digit annual rate. The population is projected to grow by 81 million people annually. The population of the world has more than doubled between 1959 and the 2000s. The annual rate of population increase reached its high in the late 1960s. The pace of increase has nearly halved since then, and it is anticipated that it will continue to decrease globally in the coming years.
Egypt Population Distribution
The population of Egypt reached 102.3 million in 2021. Egypt had the largest population group with 59.9% (61.28 million) of the population falling into the working-age group of 15-64 years. Below 15 years, was the second-largest population group in Egypt with 35.2% (36.01 million) of the population. 65 years and above was the third largest population group with 4.9% (5.04 million) of the total population in 2021.
Egypt's population increased by an average of 2.8% between 2000 and 2019. Most of Egypt's population is youthful and of working age. Although the elderly population is predicted to grow by 2025, its percentage will still be low when compared to other countries. From 62.8% in 2015 to 61.7% in 2025, the working-age population is expected to make up the majority of the population. The birth rate was 26.9 per 1,000 people, the fertility rate was 3.2 children born per woman, and the infant mortality rate was 18.3 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2021, according to GlobalData. Life expectancy at birth for the whole population in 2021 was 74.0 years, with male life expectancy at 72.5 years and female life expectancy at 75.6 years.
