A total of 211 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in Malaysia, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $9,344.8 million. In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $3,152.1 million, resulting in an average deal value of $175.1 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 27 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $14.0 million during that month.
Of the 211 deals, the deal secured between Absolute Ambient and Seaview Holdings Sdn Bhd, was the largest M&A deal in the Malaysia, which was valued at $2,992.5 million and was completed on September 14, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Liberty Insurance Berhad and AmGeneral Insurance Bhd, while the third-largest deal was between Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Berhad and Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd. The Liberty Insurance Berhad-AmGeneral Insurance Bhd deal and the Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Berhad-Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd deal were valued at $519.7 million and $503.1 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Universal Robina Corp-Crunchy Foods Sdn Bhd valued at $456.3 million, whereas the deal between Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Berhad-Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Sdn Bhd valued at $429.3 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $4,900.8 million and accounted for nearly 52.44% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
