Shaxi Copper Mine in Anhui, was the largest gold-producing mine in China, producing approximately 946.4 thousand ounces of gold and an estimated 4.3 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Shaxi Copper Mine is owned by Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Co Ltd. The second largest gold-producing mine with an estimated gold production of 384.6 thousand ounces and an estimated 11.88 mmtpa of ROM, was the Dexing Mine located in Anhui. The Dexing Mine is owned by Jiangxi Copper Co Ltd, and is due to operate until 2050.
Dayingezhuang Gold Mine located in Shandong was the third-largest mine, the Sanshandao Gold Mine located in Shandong was the fourth-largest mine, and the Zaozigou Gold Mine located in Gansu was the fifth-largest mine, with a total gold production of 229 thousand ounces, 218.4 thousand ounces and 209.9 thousand ounces, respectively, in 2021. The Dayingezhuang Gold Mine, the Sanshandao Gold Mine and the Zaozigou Gold Mine had an estimated ROM production of 1.29 mmtpa, 3.62 mmtpa and 0.63 mmtpa respectively. The Dayingezhuang Gold Mine is owned by Zhaojin Mining Industry Co Ltd, the Sanshandao Gold Mine is owned by Shandong Gold Group Co Ltd which is due to operate until 2027 and the Zaozigou Gold Mine is owned by Zhaojin Mining Industry Co Ltd.
The five largest gold mines, i.e., Shaxi Copper Mine, Dexing Mine, Dayingezhuang Gold Mine, Sanshandao Gold Mine, and Zaozigou Gold Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 1,988.3 thousand ounces of gold, 21.74 mmtpa of ROM in 2021.
