Bashkirskaya Med Mine in Republic of Bashkortostan, was the largest zinc-producing mine in Russia, producing approximately 250 thousand tonnes of zinc and an estimated 1.5 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Bashkirskaya Med Mine is owned by Ural Mining and Metallurgical Co. The second largest zinc-producing mine with an estimated zinc production of 85.4 thousand tonnes and an estimated 4.15 mmtpa of ROM, was the Uchalinsk Mine located in Republic of Bashkortostan. The Uchalinsk Mine is owned by Ural Mining and Metallurgical Co.
Gaisky Mine Complex located in Orenburg Oblast was the third-largest mine, the Kyzyl-Tash Turk Mine located in Tuva Republic was the fourth-largest mine, and the North Copper-Zinc Mine located in Sverdlovsk Oblast was the fifth-largest mine, with a total zinc production of 85.1 thousand tonnes, 72.9 thousand tonnes and 34.7 thousand tonnes, respectively, in 2021. The Gaisky Mine Complex, the Kyzyl-Tash Turk Mine and the North Copper-Zinc Mine had an estimated ROM production of 7.98 mmtpa, 2.06 mmtpa and 1.51 mmtpa respectively. The Gaisky Mine Complex is owned by Ural Mining and Metallurgical Co, the Kyzyl-Tash Turk Mine is owned by Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd which is due to operate until 2032 and the North Copper-Zinc Mine is owned by Svyatogor.
The five largest zinc mines, i.e., Bashkirskaya Med Mine, Uchalinsk Mine, Gaisky Mine Complex, Kyzyl-Tash Turk Mine, and North Copper-Zinc Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 528.1 thousand tonnes of zinc, 17.16 mmtpa of ROM in 2021.
