Number of Floor & Decor Stores

Floor & Decor operated 160 warehouse-format stores across 33 states and two small-format design studios. Most of its stores are situated in highly visible retail and industrial locations. In FY2021, the company opened 27 new warehouse-format stores. In addition to the warehouse-format stores, the two small-format design studios are located in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Dallas, Texas. In June 2021, the company acquired Spartan Surfaces, Inc. a commercial specialty hard-surface flooring distribution company.

Net sales during FY2021 increased by 41.5%, compared to FY2020 primarily due to an increase in comparable store sales of 27.6% and the addition of 27 new warehouse stores during the year. The comparable store sales increase during the period of 27.6%, or $657.9 million, was driven by a 19.1% increase in comparable customer transactions and a 7.2% increase in comparable average tickets. Comparable sales increased among all of our product categories during FY 2021. Noncomparable store sales increased by $349.8 million during the same period primarily due to the increase in new stores and sales from our Spartan subsidiary, acquired in June 2021.

The increase in sales for FY2021 was also due to unprecedented government intervention to help mitigate the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and customers investing in home improvements while spending less on leisure activities like travel, eating out, sporting events, and hotels.
