A total of 130 Private Equity/Venture Financing deals (pending and completed) were announced in South Korea, driven by Artificial Intelligence, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $1,779.6 million. In the LTM period, January 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $287.8 million, resulting in an average deal value of $22.1 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of July 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 17 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $16.8 million during that month.
Of the 130 deals, the deal secured between SoftBank Corp and QRAFT Technologies, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the South Korea, which was valued at $144.9 million and was completed on January 11, 2022. The second-largest deal was between LOTTE rental co ltd; Wonshinhan Connect New Technology Investment Association No. 1 fund and 42dot, while the third-largest deal was between Stonebridge Capital and Cloocus Co Ltd. The LOTTE rental co ltd; Wonshinhan Connect New Technology Investment Association No. 1 fund-42dot deal and the Stonebridge Capital-Cloocus Co Ltd deal were valued at $86.8 million and $84.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between A ventures; K-Run Ventures; NHN Corp; SK E&S Co Ltd; Withwin Investment Association 50-iMedicin; Parking Cloud Co Ltd valued at $83.0 million, whereas the deal between Aion Bank; DSC Investment; Imm Investment Corp; KDB Industrial Bank; Korea Omega Investment Finance; Naver D2SF; Quantum Ventures Korea-FuriosaAI valued at $72.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $481.7 million and accounted for nearly 27.07% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
