Ity Gold Mine in Montagnes, was the largest mine in Ivory Coast, producing approximately 7.54 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) and primarily produced gold (281.78 thousand ounces) in 2021. The Ity Gold Mine is owned by Government of Cote d’Ivoire;Endeavour Mining Corp;Sodemi, and is due to operate until 2032. The second largest mine with approximately 2.31 mmtpa of ROM and primarily producing gold (123.93 thousand ounces), was the Bonikro Mine located in Goh-Djiboua. The Bonikro Mine is owned by Government of Cote d’Ivoire;Allied Gold Corp., and is due to operate until 2028.
Tongon Gold Mine located in Savanes was the third-largest mine, the Agbaou Mine located in Goh-Djiboua was the fourth-largest mine, and the Sissingue Project located in Savanes was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 2.27 mmtpa, 2.19 mmtpa and 1.7 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. Primarily, the Tongon Gold Mine produced approximately 203 thousand ounces of gold, the Agbaou Mine produced approximately 93 thousand ounces of gold and the Sissingue Project produced approximately 105 thousand ounces of gold in the year 2021. The Tongon Gold Mine is owned by Barrick Gold Corp;Government of Cote d’Ivoire which is due to operate until 2023, the Agbaou Mine is owned by Government of Cote d’Ivoire;Sodemi;Allied Gold Corp. which is due to operate until 2023 and the Sissingue Project is owned by Perseus Mining Ltd;Ivory Coast Government which is due to operate until 2026.
The five largest mines, i.e., Ity Gold Mine, Bonikro Mine, Tongon Gold Mine, Agbaou Mine, and Sissingue Project, cumulatively produced approximately 16.01 mmtpa of ROM in 2021
