Daliuta-Huojitu Mine in Shaanxi, China, was the largest underground coal-producing mine in the Asia-Pacific region, producing approximately 31.1 million tonnes of coal and an estimated 41.14 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Daliuta-Huojitu Mine is owned by China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd, and is due to operate until 2055. The second largest underground coal-producing mine with an estimated production of 28.3 million tonnes of coal and approximately 29.75 mmtpa of ROM, was the Bulianta Mine located in Inner Mongolia, China. The Bulianta Mine is owned by China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd, and is due to operate until 2034.
Buertai Mine located in Inner Mongolia, China was the third-largest mine, the Gansu Huating Mining Complex located in Gansu, China was the fourth-largest mine, and the Jinjie Mine located in Shaanxi, China was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated coal production of 20.5 million tonnes, 16.9 million tonnes and 16.7 million tonnes, respectively, in 2021. The Buertai Mine, the Gansu Huating Mining Complex and the Jinjie Mine had an estimated ROM production of 21.38 mmtpa, 20.76 mmtpa and 22.18 mmtpa respectively. The Buertai Mine is owned by China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd, the Gansu Huating Mining Complex is owned by Huating Coal Industry Group Co Ltd and the Jinjie Mine is owned by China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd.
The five largest coal mines, i.e., Daliuta-Huojitu Mine, Bulianta Mine, Buertai Mine, Gansu Huating Mining Complex, and Jinjie Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 113.5 million tonnes of coal, 135.21 mmtpa of ROM in 2021.
