Top 10 Venture Capital Investors in the Chemicals Industry in the World in 2021 by Deal Volume

Almi Invest AB, Horizons Ventures Ltd, IDG Capital, ABB Technology Ventures, and Alumni Ventures Group are among the top 5 venture capital investors in the chemicals industry in 2021 by deal volume. In terms of the geographic split, 4 out of 10 of the world’s top 10 venture capital investors in the chemicals industry are headquartered in Europe and whereas the remaining 3 are based in Asia and 3 are based in North America. They employed a total of 85,851 people in 2021. The PT Bumi Berkah Boga (Kopi Kenangan) Series C Funding deal was one of the major VC deals in the chemicals sector in 2021. Hiswara, Bunjamin & Tandjung, and Oon & Bazul LLP served as legal advisors to PT Bumi Berkah Boga, while Latham & Watkins LLP served as legal advisor to Tybourne Capital Management (HK), Ltd. in the deal. PT Bumi Berkah Boga (Kopi Kenangan), an Indonesia-based online beverage retail company, has secured $96 million in Series C funding from Kunlun Fund, B Capital Group, and others. The deal was completed in Q4 2021. The Soft Robotics Series B Funding deal was another major VC deal in the chemicals sector in 2021. Soft Robotics Inc (Soft Robotics) a US-based designer and manufacturer of soft robotic gripping systems and automation solutions, develops robotic handling systems including robotic grippers, control systems, and software solutions. Its advanced grippers facilitate automation across industrial applications. The company has secured an additional $10 million in Series B funding from ABB Technology Ventures, Tekfen Ventures, and others. Soft Robotics intends to use the funds to meet pandemic-induced demand and bring its 3D vision and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered solutions to the market. The deal was completed in Q2 2021.
