In terms of the geographic split, 7 out of 10 of the world’s top 10 private equity investors in the travel & tourism industry are headquartered in North America and whereas the remaining 2 are based in Europe, and 1 is based in Oceania. They employed a total of 189,277 people in 2021. The Conyers Trust Company (Cayman) Limited; AustralianSuper Pty Ltd; QSuper Limited; Global Infrastructure Management; IFM Investors Pty Ltd- Sydney Airport Holdings Limited deal was one of the major deals in the travel & tourism sector in 2021. Barrenjoey and UBS served as financial advisors and Allens as legal advisors to Sydney Airport Holdings. A consortium of Investors (Sydney Aviation Alliance Pty Ltd) has completed the acquisition of Sydney Airport Holdings Ltd, an Australia-based airport holding company, for total consideration of AUD23.6 billion ($17.4 billion). The deal was completed in Q1 2022. The EQT AB; EQT Infrastructure Ltd-First Student Inc; First Transit, Inc. deal was another major deal in the travel & tourism sector in 2021. Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, Barclays, and BMO Capital Markets Corp served as financial advisors, while Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP served as legal advisors for EQT Infrastructure. First Student is a student transportation service provider, while First Transit is a public transit management operator. EQT Infrastructure, an investment firm, has acquired First Student, Inc and First Transit, Inc, for $4.6 billion. The deal was completed in Q3 2021.
