Volkswagen AG, Toyota Motor Corp, BYD Co Ltd, Stellantis NV, SAIC Motor Corp Ltd, Honda Motor Co Ltd, Ford Motor Co, Mercedes-Benz Group AG, General Motors Co, and Renault SA are the major 10 automotive OEMs in the world in 2021 by number of employees. These companies employed a total of 2,691,371 people in 2021, where Volkswagen AG was the highest (668,012) and Renault SA was the lowest (156,466). In terms of geographic split, 8 out 10 companies are based in Europe and Asia Pacific, while the remaining two are based out of the United States of America. In terms of active jobs, total active jobs in the major 10 companies increased by 63.4%, with General Motors Co (3,643) having the highest number of active jobs in 2021 and was also leading the charts in 2020 with 2,273 active jobs.
