Our data includes Market Size data across 32 product categories and 19 channels with five-year forecasts available in each of the four currencies (LCU, EUR, USD, GBP). Our data also covers key performance indicators for over 6,000 retail companies globally, and includes total sales, online & offline sales by five key sectors, and market share data together with store numbers, space, and sales densities.
We use official government statistics to get the value of products in a market and expenditure on retail categories per country. Separately, we collect retailer sales from their annual reports, company accounts, and direct contact with them, and use product and price audits from retailers’ websites to get category splits.
We also use store numbers, typical sales densities and space to estimate typical sales by retailer by country. These sales are annualized by calendar year (as companies have different financial year ends) and relevant sales tax is added to get consumer expenditure by retailer. We then compare the top line trends with the aggregated retailer sales per country to align the market sizes. This gives us our market sizes and category values. Finally, we check against other data to make sure our data is robust.
