J Sagar Associates and Weil, Gotshal & Manges were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the automotive sector during the first quarter (Q1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks legal advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that J Sagar Associates achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on a deal worth $542.7 million. Meanwhile, Weil, Gotshal & Manges led in terms of volume by advising on a total of two deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Weil, Gotshal & Manges, apart from leading by volume in Q1 2024, also fared well in terms of value. In fact, J Sagar Associates, which was the top adviser by value in Q1 2024, was followed by Weil, Gotshal & Manges. Meanwhile, J Sagar Associates, apart from leading by value, also occupied the seventh position by volume in Q1 2024.”

Weil, Gotshal & Manges occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $405.1 million worth of deals, followed by Clifford Chance and Legance – Avvocati Associati jointly occupying the third position with $405.1 million each, and Ropes & Gray with $303 million.

Meanwhile, Dorsey & Whitney and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher jointly occupied the second position in terms of volume with two deals each, followed by Baker McKenzie with two deals.
