China’s polymerase chain reaction systems market to grow at 10% CAGR through 2030, says GlobalData

The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) systems market in China is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 10% between 2021 and 2030, driven by factors such as increasing demand for molecular diagnostics, discounted pricing and growing incidence of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, forecasts GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

GlobalData’s latest report ‘PCR Systems Market Size (Value, Volume, ASP) by Segments, Share, Trend and SWOT Analysis, Regulatory and Reimbursement Landscape, Procedures, and Forecast, 2015-2030’ reveals that Cepheid Inc, Roche Diagnostics International Ltd, Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc and Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc were the major players in China, accounting to more than 50% of the market in 2021.

Uzma Takreem, Medical Devices Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “China was the largest market for PCR systems, in terms of volume, in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region in 2021 accounts to around 35% of the APAC market and is expected to retain its position through 2030.”

Unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19 had a positive impact on PCR systems market as it created a huge demand for reliable and rapid detection techniques such as real time-PCR for the detection of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases such as influenza and respiratory syncytial viral infections.

Takreem concludes: “With the growing demand for molecular diagnostics and strong government initiatives designed to combat infectious diseases, the demand for PCR systems continues to rise in China. However, factors such as fall in live birth rates and whole blood donations, and development of more point-of-care devices that are relatively in-expensive may act as constraints to this market.”
